Our Company began it’s chemical manufacturing operation in 1984 under Union Carbide Ceylon Ltd, which was then a battery manufacturing company. We remained as an affiliate of Union Carbide Corporation after it divested itself from the battery business until year 2000. After Dow Chemical Company’s acquisition of Union Carbide Corporation we became a J/V of Dow Chemical Company and was renamed as Union Chemicals Lanka Ltd (UCLL) and continued as the agent for Union Carbide products as well as some new products of Dow.

Union Chemicals Lanka Plc is a public quoted company listed in the Colombo stock exchange. We are a manufacturing cum trading company for chemicals. Our manufacturing facility for aqueous based synthetic latex, produces a range of aqueous based adhesives, paint binders for emulsion paints and textile printing binders. The product range comprises of vinyl acetate homo-polymers, vinyl-acrylic, styrene-acrylic and all alcylic co-polymers. In addition we manufacture silicone emulsion and defoamers.
